The UCAPS Story: UCAPS began as a REI consulting and investment company in 2017 to "build wealth through building people" and to advocate for issues affecting women and children. Through the PHP (People Helping People) IMO vision, UCAPS, like thousands of other individuals and companies, advanced as the small business model of the Covid pandemic and evolved independently, to build financial literacy and entrepreneurship. In 2020, UCAPS joined the ranks at First Family Life (FFL) IMO and represents 17 prestigious insurance carriers. UCAPS brings to the table almost two centuries of synergy with the financial strength of a connected community with a wide and deep array of products and services. Our carriers have insured lives and served communities as early as 1862, providing a sales force, underwriting, advance market, and support teams that are readily accessible. As the world becomes more diversified in business climate and culture, our model is set to flourish.

I Grew up in the rural south where the challenges were teaming with opportunity. The old adage, "the more things change the more they stay the same", holds true. Race, religion, class and gender are the old man regimes still reigning to keep most locked out.

The truth is, we are all innovators, ministers and influencers and must believe in the opportunity present in the human experience across every moment of interaction. We must embrace, anticipate and manage the good–believe that it still exists if not but through our efforts as far as we can without surrender-everyday–every time. In doing so, we refuse to give our power to external forces that seek to gradually reduce the human will to subservience whatever the means. No matter the challenge, we must continue to look within and give permission to human experience to be the innovators, agents of change and light - the genius that it is.

My business reflects the challenges I have faced as an African American single female. It reflects the resolve–responses teaming within opportunity. I am grateful for the challenges. I would not be who nor where I am today without them. I know what it feels like to abound and to abase.

Through it all, I believe in family, the inherent right to be able to provide and the renewed hope to "evolve and respond" to everyday challenges by "building wealth through building people" – offering SOLUTIONS to break those generational encumbrances through entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
